IAWM 2013 Annual Concert Call for Works
Receipt Deadline: Feb 15, 2013
The International Alliance for Women in Music announces its call for scores for the Annual Concert 2013.
The concert will take place in October 2013 in NYC (Date TBD).
The New York-based ensemble mise-en will perform the concert (www.mise-en.org).
Requirements
-Current membership in IAWM is required for submission
-Only one (1) entry per composer
-Works submitted should have a duration of 15 minutes or less.
-Works should be for 1 or more players (up to 7 instruments) from the following: 1 flute, 1 oboe, 1 clarinet, 1 bassoon, 1 horn, 1 trumpet, 1 trombone, 1 percussion, 1 piano, 2 violins, 1 viola, 1 violoncello and 1 contrabass
-Works with electronics are welcome.
-Upon notification of acceptance, all performance materials must be immediately available.
-If selected, composers must attend the dress rehearsal and performance.
In addition to the general call for scores for the annual concert, ensemble mise-en and the International Alliance for Women in Music are pleased to announce the 2013 ensemble mise-en/IAWM New Work Project.
Project description
A winner will have an opportunity to work with ensemble mise-en (www.mise-en.org) to write a new work for chamber orchestra/large ensemble (up to 14 musicians), and the premiere performance of this new work will be at the 2013 IAWM Annual Concert in New York City. The composer selected must make the score and parts available by August 25 and attend the dress rehearsal and performance.

-Current membership in IAWM is required for submission
-Each member may submit a maximum of 4 representative works. (1 chamber orchestra/large ensemble piece required)
-A brief description of the proposed composition for ensemble mise-en

Submit ANONYMOUS scores (please use a pseudonym) with recordings (if available) to EasyChair at https://www.easychair.org/conferences/?conf=iawmac2013
Deadline for receipt of materials is February 15, 2013.
Decisions will be announced by March 15, 2013.

2012-2013 Season Announcement
The ensemble has eight exciting concerts scheduled for the next year, which include performances at Bohemian National Hall, Issue Project Room, Austrian Cultural Forum New York, Tenri Cultural Institute, The Invisible Dog Art Center and the cell. We will be collaborating with a diverse range of talented composers in our ongoing effort to present our audiences with beautiful yet challenging new music. This season we will perform ten commissions and more than twenty U.S. and N.Y. premieres. More details about these works and our concerts will be forthcoming.
Artist-in-Residency
We are also thrilled to share with you the news of our 2012-2013 artist-in-residency at the cell theatre, a self-proclaimed “twenty-first century salon” in Chelsea. The theater strives to promote bold and contemporary works by artists in various mediums, and we are honored to be included.
