Whispers and Cries: a journey through gentle butterflies and dramatic lamentations.

A solo cello recital exploring delicate whispers and dramatic cries, from gentle butterflies to emotional lamentations. Join Jihwon H. Na for an evocative journey through contemporary cello repertoire, featuring works by Kaija Saariaho, Henri Dutilleux, Jinhee Han, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, Giovanni Sollima, and Moon Ha. With special guest Rachel Zhao on violin for Jinhee Han’s Echo me (i).

Selected works will feature special lighting to enhance their ethereal atmosphere, complemented by gentle microphone amplification to subtly enrich the cello’s sound.

Experience the intimate lyricism, striking contrasts, and compelling textures that bring each composition to life, moving seamlessly from tender whispers to powerful, dramatic cries, showcasing the full expressive range of the cello.
