April 14, 2026, 7:30 PM, Fifth Element Winds

Fifth Element Winds (5EW) is a New York City–based professional wind quintet devoted to the exploration and performance of chamber music repertoire at the highest level. Their programming includes both standard wind quintet works and new music by emerging composers. Fifth Element Winds serves as the Ensemble-in-Residence at Trinity Lower East Side Lutheran Parish, located on East 9th Street in Lower Manhattan.

5EW consists of three recent conservatory graduates and two current postgraduate students at the Manhattan School of Music. The members of Fifth Element met through their studies in New York City over the past seven years and officially formed the ensemble in August 2025 after recognizing a shared passion, commitment, and dedication to their collaborative musical craft.

Now approaching the end of their first season, 5EW presents this “New Music Tuesday Series” concert as their third performance as an ensemble. Outside of Fifth Element Winds, its members have appeared as featured chamber soloists with the Westside Chamber Players and the NYC Orchestra Project; recorded performances for WQXR’s Young Artists Showcase; performed in the Orchestra of St. Luke’s “A Sunset Celebration”; and been featured multiple times in the Mannes Sounds Festival. They have also toured with Broadway International Group and the Contemporaneous Ensemble, collaborated with Meredith Monk and Valerie Coleman, and performed at notable venues across New York City, including Carnegie Hall, Merkin Hall, the Park Avenue Armory, National Sawdust, Symphony Space, St. Paul’s Chapel, New York City Center, and various halls at Lincoln Center.
